What is a CSA share?

CSA stands for community-supported agriculture. CSA programs connect communities with their local farmers. Prior to the growing season, community members in Ottawa & Gatineau pay a subscription to our farm in exchange for a weekly or bi-weekly box of fresh vegetables.

Our CSA members receive:

10 or 18 baskets of certified organic vegetables over 20 weeks from June to October.

An average of $30.00 worth of vegetables per basket.

Two weeks of vacation are included in full-time subscriptions.

Ability to switch pick-up locations and move pick-up dates around to fit your summer schedule.

A weekly newsletter with recipe ideas, storage tips, and stories from the farm.

Payment can be made in 3 installments.

How does it work?

CSA members play a central role in our farm. By joining our CSA, you are directly supporting us in our mission to grow tasty, nutrient-dense food using regenerative organic farming practices.

Memberships are paid in the off season, which helps us in buying our seeds, compost, and the tools that we use every day on the farm. In return for your support, you will receive a diverse box of seasonal vegetables each week throughout the growing season.

Every week, members pick up their share at a designated pick-up location. Some of the vegetables in your share are selected by us, and you get to choose others during the pick-up. Below you can see some examples of the veggies that will be available on a given week.

We try to strike a balance in every basket, and usually include a mix of salad greens, root vegetables, fruiting vegetables, alliums and herbs. There will always be some familiar favourites like carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, onions and garlic. You will also discover a few new vegetable varieties to try throughout the season, like purple napa cabbage, black cherry tomatoes, and delicata squash. Our goal is to inspire you to cook more and be more connected to eating seasonally!

"The Larkspur CSA was a highlight of my year. For the first time, I felt connected to my food. Thanks to Larkspur I ate vegetables that were in season and got to try a number of new vegetables and recipes. Delicata squash, daikon and radicchio are some of my new favourites. Alix and Doug are so generous with their knowledge and I loved hearing updates from the farm. Alix and Doug are committed to sustainability and food justice and I'm really excited to be a part of what they're doing in a small way." - Portia Larlee

"This was our first year trying a CSA share and we are very happy we did. The quality of the vegetables and herbs grown at Larkspur farm was excellent and the freshness was like nothing you would ever get at a supermarket. We enjoyed everything we got, but some highlights were the tomatoes that were so sweet and juicy, and the beautiful mixed greens that would stay crisp and delicious for over a week (on the rare occasion they lasted that long). Knowing the produce was all grown organically was really important to us too. We can't wait for next summer!" - Kathi & Lee
